US-based Port-A-Cool is confident it can play a big part in ensuring worker safety throughout the GCC.
The company has been designing and manufacturing portable evaporative cooling products and accessories since 1991.
With headquarters in Center, Texas, Port-A-Cool produces a range of
products and mobile evaporative cooling units that cool areas from 40-250m2.

Speaking to CW at the Big 5, CEO-designate, Ben Wulf, who
takes up his new position in January, said: “It’s a pretty simple
product. Probably the best way to describe it is you would use our
product anywhere that traditional air conditioning is unavailable,
impractical or cost-prohibitive.
“It is designed primarily for spot cooling applications, where you
need temporary relief and air conditioning might not be a viable
option.”
The company first entered the GCC market in 2005, but had a foothold in the region for many years previously, as Wulf explained.
“What brought us into the region was our products coming over here
during the Gulf Wars and as we saw an opportunity - not only in the
military community in the Allied Forces, we also recognized that there’s
a commercial and industrial market very similar to what we were
servicing back in the United States,” he said.
“As we started to beef up our resources and place more assets and
focus in the region, we have now found that the commercial and
industrial market is healthy, it’s growing and there’s a lot of
opportunity in the future.”
That opportunity has included installing its products at Doha
International Airport and at Sheik Zayeed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi,
where it provided more than 100 units during the Ramadan period, as well
as working with different major airlines.
And as the focus of the world falls heavily on forthcoming events
such as the Qatar 2020 World Cup and the newly awarded Dubai World Expo
2020, Wulf is confident Port-A-Cool, which has distributors in 125
countries, can play a leading role.
He said: “I think you’re going to see a bigger emphasis on worker
health and worker safety and that’s where our products are very
affordable and very economical options.”
